Yugoslav Committee

(Jugoslavenski Odbor), a political organization founded in London in May 1915 by Yugoslav émigrés from Croatia, Dalmatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia who were working for the liberation of Austria-Hungary’s Yugoslav (South Slav) lands and for their unification with Serbia and Montenegro into an independent state. The Yugoslav Committee’s plans were reflected in the agreement signed in July 1917 by the committee’s chairman, A. Trumbić, and the prime minister of Serbia, N. Pašić (seeCORFU, DECLARATION OF). After the formation of the Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes in December 1918, the Yugoslav Committee ceased to exist.
