Yukaghir Plateau

 

(Iukagirskoe Ploskogor’e), an upland plain on the right bank of the Kolyma River, in the Yakut ASSR and Magadan Oblast, RSFSR. In the north it is composed of Mesozoic effusive rocks. The southern part contains metamorphosed Precambrian, Paleozoic, and Triassic deposits. Average elevations in the interfluves are 300–700 m. Some massifs have elevations of more than 1,000 m, with the highest peak, Chubukulakh, rising to 1,128 m. Thin larch forests are encountered. At elevations above 400–600 m, thickets of dwarf stone pine and tundra are found.
