Yule, George Udny
Born Feb. 18, 1871, in Morham, near Haddington; died June 26, 1951, in Cambridge. British statistician.
A professor at Cambridge University, Yule was a pupil of K. Pearson, the founder of the mathematical-empirical school of statistics. He was a member of various scientific societies, including the Royal Statistical Society, of which he served as president from 1924 to 1926. The principal areas of Yule’s research were the theory of mathematical statistics, regression, and correlation.
