Zafarabad

an urban-type settlement, the administrative center of Zafarabad Raion, Leninabad Oblast, Tadzhik SSR. Zafarabad is located in the Golodnaia Steppe, on the Tashkent-Dushanbe highway, 5 km from the Khavast railroad junction. Population, 9,000 (1970). A factory making reinforced concrete products, a cotton-growing sovkhoz, and a water-development technicum are located there.
