Anticlinal Valleys
Anticlinal Valleys
river valleys that formed along the arched portion of an anticline, as a consequence of which the strata composing its slopes drop in a direction opposite to the riverbed. The formation of anticlinal valleys is either related to the fact that the anticline axis is composed of rocks that barely resist water erosion or is explained by the rocks’ great fragmentation and jointing as a result of which the water flow erodes out a significant bed.
