Zakhrebetniki
Zakhrebetniki
a feudally dependent social group in the Russian state from the 15th to the 17th century. Having no land or livelihood of their own, they lived with peasants or with posadskie liudi (merchants and artisans), working for them and paying no taxes of their own to the state. Occasion-ally, several peasant households shared a single zakhrebetnik. Zakhrebetniki, apparently, were required to pay a part of the tax and rent obligations of their masters.
