Zaman-Baba
Zaman-Baba
a settlement and burial ground of early Bronze Age settled farmers and stock breeders (first half of the second millennium B.C.) near Lake Zaman-Baba in the lower reaches of the dried-up Makhan Darya River to the west of the Bukhara Oasis (Uzbek SSR). Oval subterranean dwellings have been excavated as well as burials in oval pits and catacombs. The skeletons were in a flexed position and lying on their sides. The burials contained modeled flat-bottomed and round-bottomed pottery, bronze objects (a mirror, miniature shovels and knives), flint arrowheads, and stone beads. Zaman-Baba is a unique complex of the early stages of production economy in the steppe regions of Middle Asia. It is a predecessor of the Andronovo culture.
