Zamaraev, Kirill IlIch

Zamaraev, Kirill Il’Ich

Born May 20, 1939, in Moscow. Soviet physical chemist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976).

Zamaraev graduated from the Moscow Physicotechnical Institute in 1963, and from 1963 to 1977 he was on the staff of the Institute of Chemical Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. In 1977 he became the deputy director of the Institute of Catalysis of the Siberian Division of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

Zamaraev’s principal works deal with the mechanisms of homogeneous catalysis and the kinetics and mechanisms of single-step chemical reactions, especially the tunneling of electrons in solids. He has discovered and studied active intermediate complexes for a number of homogeneous catalytic reactions. Zamaraev has also discovered many electron-transfer reactions and studied their kinetics.
