Zapoliarnyi

a city (since 1963) in Pechenga Raion, Murmansk Oblast, RSFSR. Population, 22,000 (1970). Zapoliarnyi has a railroad station 167 km northwest of Murmansk. It arose in 1956 with the opening of copper and nickel mines. Ore extraction and concentration is carried on, and there is a building-materials industry.

an urban-type settlement in the Komi ASSR. It is located 23 km northwest of Vorkuta. Coal is extracted there.
