Zarzaitin

a mining point in Algeria in the eastern Algerian Sahara near the Libyan border. Zarzaitin has a large oil deposit (exploited since 1958). The oil is transported to the Tunisian port of Cekhira via a 770-km pipeline, in operation since 1960. There is a deposit of natural gas near Zarzaitin.
