Zavaritskite
Zavaritskite
(named for A. N. Zavaritskii), a mineral; an oxyhalide compound with the chemical formula BiFO. It crystallizes in a tetragonal system, forming very fine-grained, powdery cryptocrystalline aggregates. The color is gray, and the luster is oily; the mineral is opaque, and slightly translu-cent in very fine granules. It is found in the oxidized zone of the Sherlova Gora deposit in Transbaikalia, together with topaz, fluorite, bismuthinite, and bismuthite.
