a city (until 1963, the village of Vorontsovo-Aleksandrovskoe; from 1963 to 1965, the village of Sovetskoe), the administrative center of the Sovetskii Raion, Stavropol’ Krai, RSFSR. Located on the Kuma River. It has a railroad station on the Georgievsk-Budennovsk branch. Population, 30,000 (1970). The Elektroapparat Factory and plants for road machines, machine rebuilding, and wall materials, as well as a creamery and cheese dairy and a brickyard are located in Zelenokumsk. There is also a sovkhoz growing grapes for wine.
