a fictitious organization, in whose name the Sviashchennaia Druzhina (the Holy Host, a body founded to struggle against revolutionaries in the early 1880’s) carried on negotiations with the People’s Will, ostensibly about bringing political terror to an end but actually for purposes of provocation.
