Zero tolerance ticket

Ask a Lawyer

Question

Country: United States of America
State: MichiganI have recently been charged with a ticket for zero tolerance and open inbox. just five days ago. I talked to a lawyer who said that I could be charged for a second offense because I have two charges at once, despite the fact that I do not have a prior record. I have researched online that for first offense zero tolerance I cannot be sentenced jail time, but for a second offense I can face up to 93 days in jail. I was wondering whether or not this lawyer was correct in advising that I could face jail time for my first offense due to the other charge of open inbox.

Answer

That usually will not happen...but it is legally possible yes...
