Zheltoshchek
(Elopichthys bambusa), a fish of the carp family. Length, 1.5–2 m; weight, 30–40 kg. The body is elongated, the scales small, and the mouth large. The zheltoshchek is found in the middle and lower reaches of the Amur River, in the Sungara and Ussuri rivers, Lake Hanka, and in China (as far south as Canton). Spawning takes place in the Amur River from the beginning of June until mid-July. The eggs are large and pelagic. The zheltoshchek is a predator, feeding on other fish. It is a valued but scarce commercial fish.
