Zhodino

a city (an urban-type settlement until 1963) in Minsk Oblast, Byelorussian SSR, 50 km east of Minsk. Zhodino is a station on the Minsk-Orsha railway line. Population, 22,000 (1970). The city is the site of the Byelorussian Automobile Plant and the Smolevich State Regional Electric Power Plant. There is an evening general technical department of the Byelorussian Polytechnic Institute in Zhodino.
