Zhuia

Zhuia

 

a river in northeastern Irkutsk Oblast, RSFSR; a left tributary of the Chara River in the Lena River basin. The Zhuia is 337 km long and drains an area of 22,600 sq km. It flows mainly within the borders of the Patomskoe Plateau. The upper Zhuia flows through Tolendo Lake. The river is fed by both snow and rain. The average flow of water is approximately 53 cu m per sec at the Svetlyi mine. The Zhuia is navigable below its confluence with the Khomolkho River.
