Zhurnalist

 

(The Journalist), a monthly social and political illustrated magazine published by the newspaper Pravda and the Union of Journalists of the USSR. It was founded in Moscow in 1920. First published under the title Krasnyi zhurnalist (Red Journalist), it subsequently bore the titles Krasnaia pechat’ (Red Press, 1921), Zhurnalist (1922–33), Bol’shevistskaia pechat’ (Bolshevik Press, 1933–41), Sovetskaia pechat’ (Soviet Press, 1955–66), and since 1967, again Zhurnalist. The magazine summarizes the work of the Soviet press, propagates its Leninist principles, and reviews contemporary problems of journalism in relation to the tasks of communist construction in the USSR and to the most important international developments.
