Zhurnal Obshchei Khimii
(Journal of General Chemistry), a monthly scientific journal and organ of the Division of General and Industrial Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. It has been published in Leningrad since 1931 as the successor to the chemistry section of the Zhurnal Russkogo fiziko-khimicheskogo obshchestva (Journal of the Russian Physical Chemistry Society). The journal publishes articles devoted to general problems of chemistry, to the basic principles of the properties and changes of organic, heteroorganic, and inorganic compounds, to the interactions between atoms and the reactivity of chemical compounds, and to the study of natural compounds and their synthetic analogues. The majority of articles reflect the results of experimental studies. The section “Letters to the Editor” contains brief, preliminary announcements concerning the latest scientific achievements. An author’s index is published yearly. In 1972 the journal had a circulation of 2,650.
