Zivs, Samuil Lazarevich
Born Dec. 24, 1921, in Ventspils Latvian SSR. Soviet legal scholar, doctor of jurisprudence (1962), Honored Scholar of the RSFSR (1972). Became a member of the CPSU in 1948.
Zivs has been engaged in legal studies and teaching since 1948. He has written works on the general theory of the state and law and on comparative jurisprudence. Since 1972 he has been vice-president of the Institute of Soviet-American Relations, since 1965 of the Association of Soviet Jurists. He has been a member of the Soviet Peace Committee since 1967.
