Zmeinogorsk

a city in Altai Krai, RSFSR. It is situated in Rudnyi Altai, at the southern foot of the Kolyvan’ Range, on the Korbolikha River (tributary of the Alei River) and its tributary, the Zmeevka River, 45 km northeast of the Tret’iakovo railroad station (on the Rubtsovsk-Ust’-Kamenogorsk line). Poly metals are extracted. There is a butter and cheese dairy and a distillery for liqueur and vodka. It is the site of a medical school. Zmeinogorsk first appeared in 1736, becoming a city in 1952.
