Aidarov, Znaur Zaurbegovich

 

Born November 1889 in the village of Kadgoron, Terek Oblast; died Nov. 15, 1919. Participant in the Civil War in Georgia.

A member of the Communist Party from 1914, Aidarov was one of the founders of the Bolshevik Ossetian organization. In 1918 he conducted underground party work in Menshevik Georgia by helping organize partisan detachments and preparing the rebellion. He was an instructor at the military and revolutionary headquarters of the Caucasus regional committee of the RSDLP (Bolshevik). In November 1919, Aidarov was chief of staff of the insurgent detachments of Gori District and also chairman of the first Khtsissk revolutionary committee. He was captured in battle and shot by the Georgian Mensheviks. In 1931, Okonsk Raion was renamed Znauri Raion in honor of Aidarov.
