Zune
Zune
A digital music and video service from Microsoft for Windows PCs, Windows Phones and Xbox. Introduced in 2006, the Zune brand referred to the entire system, including a physical hardware player, software and music store. In late 2011, the hardware was dropped, but the software remained as the organizer and synchronizer for Windows Phone. Zune functionality was incorporated into Windows Phone just like the iPod was built into iPhones (see Zune software).Zune Hardware
Launched more than five years after the iPod, the 30GB hard disk-based player included Wi-Fi, FM radio and a 3" screen. Supported audio formats were MP3, WMA and unprotected AAC, as well as H.264, MPEG-4 and WMV video. Various smaller and larger models followed with hard disks up to 120GB and flash storage up to 64GB. In 2009, the last model featured a touchscreen and HD Radio (see Zune HD).
