Zújar
Zújar
a river in southwestern Spain; a left tributary of the Guadiana. The Zújar measures 221 km in length and drains an area of 8,500 sq km. It originates on the northern slopes of the Sierra Morena mountains and flows mainly over hilly and lowmountain terrain. High water is in winter, while the river runs dry in certain places in summer. The mean flow rate is approximately 50 cu m per sec. The Zújar is used chiefly for irrigation. There is a reservoir on its middle course.
