Šakiai

a city and the administrative center of Šakiai Raion, Lithuanian SSR. Šakiai is situated on the Siesartis River of the Neman River basin. The city is 61 km northwest of Kaunas and 33 km north of the Pilviškiai railroad station on the Kaunas-Kaliningrad line. Industry is represented by a metalworking shop of the Vilkaviškis Metalworks.
