Arbitration Board

 

a board whose members are chosen by the parties to a dispute in order to resolve the dispute. In the USSR, the Foreign Trade Arbitration Commission and the Maritime Arbitration Commission settle disputes through arbitration. Arbitration boards for resolving disputes between citizens may be formed in accordance with the Statute on Arbitration Boards, included as an appendix in the codes of civil procedure of the Union republics. Arbitration boards for resolving economic disputes between socialist organizations are formed and guided by the Statute on Arbitration Boards, approved by a directive of Gosarbitrazh (State Arbitration Board) under the Council of Ministers of the USSR of Dec. 30, 1975.
