Arbolit

(from the Russian arbolit; from the Latin: arbor, “tree, wood,” and the Greek, lithos, “stone”), a building material; a variety of lightweight concrete.

Arbolit is manufactured from a mixture of organic aggregates (for example, crushed wastes from woodworking, reeds, refuse from hemp-processing), a cementing agent (usually Portland cement), and water. In order to petrify the aggregate and speed up the hardening of the cement, calcium chloride, aluminum sulfate with air-slaked lime, or other additives are introduced into the mixture. The volumetric mass of arbolit ranges from 400 to 700 kilograms per cubic meter. Arbolit is used in the manufacture of blocks, panels, slabs, and so on, which are used in building low-rise dwellings and low-rise public, industrial, and farm buildings.
