Location:Within the Kaskaskia River State Fish & Wildlife area, near Baldwin, Illinois, off Risdon School Road.
Facilities:Primitive camping areas, picnic facilities, toilets and drinking water, boat ramps, boat docks.
Activities:Camping, fishing, boating (50 HP limit), picnicking, waterfowl viewing.
Special Features:Baldwin Lake is a cooling lake owned by the Illinois PowerCompany and leased to the state for public recreational use. The lakeand adjoining lands are designated as a waterfowl and wildlife refuge,with peak populations of 10,000 geese and 20,000 ducks seen in the areaduring winter. Approximately 200 resident giant Canada geese nest onthe lake levees, and, starting in April, broods of goslings begin to appear.
