Babko, Anatolii Kirillovich
Born Oct. 2 (15), 1905; died Jan. 7, 1968. Soviet analytical chemist; Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1957); Honored Scientist of the Ukrainian SSR (1966). Member of the CPSU beginning in 1940.
In 1943, Babko became a professor, and in 1944, the head of the subdepartment of analytical chemistry of the University of Kiev. In 1939 he formed the analytical department in the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, which he directed until his death. His main works were dedicated to the physical chemistry of complex compounds and their application in analytical chemistry and also to photometric and luminescent methods of analysis. He published more than 400 works. Babko was awarded the Order of Lenin, other orders, and medals.
