Bioplastique

An injectable cosmetic implant comprised of solid silicone microspheres suspended in a polynivylpyrrolidone vector. It is biphasic:
(1) Permanent phase consists of solid silicone microspheres; or
(2) Absorbed carrier gel phase.
Bioplastique microspheres are large enough to permit collagen encapsulation. Implantation is reversible, and requires removal with a micro needle (as in micro-liposuction) with the risk that native tissue is often lost along with the Bioplastique, resulting in pitting of the dermis. It is not FDA approved.
