Denau
a city (prior to 1958, a settlement) in Surkhan-Dar’ia Oblast, Uzbek SSR. Situated between the Surkhan-Dar’ia and Sangardak rivers. Railroad station on the Termez-Dushanbe line. Population, 25,000 (1970).
Denau has a cotton-ginning plant, an oil-extraction plant, a winery, a dairy plant, a cannery, a brewery, a motor-repair factory, a brickyard, and an asphalt bitumen plant. The Southern Uzbek Fruit and Grape Selection Station is located in the city.
