DendrolagusDendrolagus(tree kangaroos), a genus of mammals of the family Macropodidae. The body measures 52-81 cm long and the tail, 42-93 cm long. The coloration is reddish-brown on the upper part of the body and lighter below. The hind limbs are significantly longer than the forelimbs, but not as much as in other kangaroos. There are a total of seven species, and they are found in the forests of New Guinea and northeastern Australia. Members of the genus live in small groups in trees and often descend to the ground. They feed on leaves and fruits. The females of the genus give birth to only one young. The animals are hunted for their fur and meat. Dendrolagus
