Core-Blowing Machine

a machine used to make molds or cores for metal castings. Propelled by compressed air at a pressure of approximately 0.6 meganewtons/m² (6 kilograms-force/cm²), a sand mix is blown from the machine chamber, the basic unit of the core-blowing machine, into the corebox cavity or flask. The packed sand mix forms a core or mold, and the air is discharged through vents in the corebox. Core-blowing machines can produce up to 360 cores per hour, with cores weighing up to 250 kg, and 240 molds per hour, with castings weighing up to 15 kg. Automated production lines for mold-making have been developed using these machines.
