 [e″tĭ-dro´nāt] a bone calcium regulator used as the disodium salt in the treatment of symptomatic osteitis deformans, for the prevention of heterotopic ossification due to spinal cord injury or following replacement" >total hip replacement, and for the treatment of hypercalcemia associated with malignancy. It is also used in bone scanning, complexed with technetium 99m.
