Her pensive nude studies, such as Nude—1934, demonstrate her understanding of delicate effects of light and shade.Bishop, Isabel (m. Wolff)(1902–88) painter; born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She studied at the Arts Students League (1920) with Max Weber. Considered a humanist, she portrayed the people and life of the streets of New York City where she lived. Many of her works have an ethereal, mysterious quality such as, Men and Girls Walking (1970), and Variations on the Theme of Walking (1979). |
