C0033300 (kăl-ho͞on′), John Caldwell 1782-1850. Vice president of the United States (1825-1832) under John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. In his political philosophy he maintained that the states had the right to nullify federal legislation that they deemed unconstitutional.
