Bison Priscus

an artiodactyl animal of the family Bovidae; an extinct wild ox widely distributed during the Pleistocene in Eurasia and North America. B. priscus had a shoulder height of 1.5 to 2 m and a sacrum height of approximately 1.5 m. B. priscus differed from other oxen by its wide, short, bulging forehead and its massive spreading horns. It was an ancestor of the present-day wisents and bison. B. priscus was among the animals hunted by man in the Stone Age.
