Chatyrkel’
a closed lake in the central Tien-Shan, Kirghiz SSR. Chatyrkel’ is situated in a depression at an elevation of 3,530 m, between the Atbashi Range in the north and the Torugarttau in the south. It has an area of approximately 175 sq km and a maximum depth of 3.8 m. Chatyrkel’ is a fresh-water lake, with brackish water in the eastern part. It is ice-covered from November to April. It is fed mainly by snow.
