dense deposit disease

dense deposit disease

Type II membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis Nephrology A glomerulopathy in which electron-dense material–usually complement C3 is deposited in the glomerular capillary basement membrane, with ↓ serum C3, due to alternate complement pathway activation, in the face of normal C4; there is patchy mesangial proliferation in Bowman's capsule, and accumulation of basement membrane material in the peritubular capillaries and arterioles Prognosis Poor.
