density correction density correction[′den·səd·ē kə′rek·shən] (aerospace engineering) A correction made necessary because the airspeed indicator is calibrated only for standard air pressure; it is applied to equivalent airspeed to obtain true airspeed, or to calibrated airspeed to obtain density airspeed. (engineering) The part of the temperature correction of a mercury barometer which is necessitated by the variation of the density of mercury with temperature. The correction, applied to the indications of a pressure-tube anemometer or pressure-plate anemometer, which is necessitated by the variation of air density with temperature. |
