(den'tin-o-clast) [? + Gr. clastos, broken] A multinucleate cell indistinguishable from an osteoclast. It is involved with resorption of dentin. The same cells probably resorbed cementum before contacting dentin and would be better called odontoclasts. See: osteoclast
