formol titration

for·mol ti·tra·tion

a method of titrating the amino groups of amino acids, by adding formaldehyde to the neutral solution; the formaldehyde reacts with the NH3+ group, liberating an equivalent quantity of H+, which may then be estimated by titration with NaOH.

formol titration

An obsolete method for detecting the presence of amino acids in the urine; urinary amino acids are measured by microbiological, colorimetric and chromatographic techniques.
