Location:8 miles northwest of Othello, Washington.

Special Features:Refuge lies in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains where annual precipitation averages less than 8 inches, creating an arid desert environment.
Habitats: 23,000 acres in the Columbia River Basin scablands, with numerous small lakes surrounded by sagebrush and grassy uplands, canyons, and buttes.
Access: Open during daylight hours.
Wild life: Mallards, Canada geese, gadwalls, cinnamon teal, redheads, and coyote.
