Disability Rights Commission

A UK governmental body established in 2000, which is charged with promoting equality and eliminating discrimination against the disabled. The Commission has a statutory remit to promote and monitor human rights, and protect, enforce and promote equality across the nine "protected" grounds: age, disability, gender, race, religion and belief, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, sexual orientation, and gender reassignment. The DRC provides information, advice and support to the disabled, employers and service providers.
