Forced Ventilation Bin
Bin, Forced Ventilation
a unit for the drying and temporary storage of grain. The bin consists of a metal cylinder (see Figure 1), within which is located an air distributing duct with outlets. The air, first warmed by an electric preheater, is fed by a blower to the duct from which it is supplied to the grain stored in the cylinder. Grain is loaded into the bin by a bucket conveyor or a pneumatic carrier. The grain is unloaded by gravity through a hatch in the discharge cone. The unit is operated by an electric motor. It is recommended for areas of moderate to high humidification. Forced ventilation bins have storage capacities of 6 to 50 tons of wheat grain.
