Deparaffination of Petroleum Products

the extraction of paraffin and ceresin from petroleum products (diesel fuel and oils) in order to improve their quality and, in particular, to lower the solidification (pour) point. Petroleum products are deparaffinated by crystallization of the components mentioned from a petroleum product solution (for example, oil in ligroin) under cooling; by selective solution of a petroleum product in a solvent that does not dissolve paraffin and ceresin; by using the ability of paraffins to form complexes with urea (carbamide deparaffination); and by the microbiological method. The paraffin and ceresin produced by these methods serve as a valuable raw material for various industries.
