Fractional Analysis

Fractional Analysis

a method of qualitative chemical analysis, which makes possible the observation of the individual ions in a solution without their preliminary sequential separation. Fractional analysis is based on the use of highly sensitive reagents, by means of which the unknown ion can be found in the presence of other ions. Small amounts of a solution are used for conducting fractional analysis; the duration of the experiment is short. The method is distinguished by very high sensitivity: the minimum of unknown ions that can be found may be as low as 0.05-0.001 microgram. Fractional analysis, which was created as a result of drop analysis, has been treated in detail by N. A. Tananaev.
