Blagden's law

A rarely used term for the principle of freezing point depression, in which addition of a solute (e.g., NaCl (table salt)) to a solvent (e.g., water), lowers the freezing point of the solvent. Charles Brian Blagden (1748–1820), a British physician and scientist, provided the early science behind freezing point depression, which is now the preferred term.
