Combined Deformation

in strength of materials, the deformation of a bar, rod or some other elastic body resulting from several simple deformations occurring simultaneously, such as bending and tension or bending and torsion. In calculating combined deformation the underlying principle is that forces act independently. This principle makes it possible to regard the combined deformation as the resultant of simple deformations.
