Location:Southwestern Louisiana, 25 miles southeast of Lake Charles.
Facilities:Visitor center, viewing sites, boardwalk, auto tour route, boat launch.
Activities:Boating, canoeing, fishing, hiking, hunting, educational programs, wildlife watching.
Special Features:The site's old rice fields have been converted to freshwater marshland, providing habitat for 45,000 ducks and 10,000 geese during the peak winter months.
Habitats: 9,621 acres of cropland and marsh.
Access: Year round, sunrise to sunset.
Wild life: Waterfowl, roseate spoonbills, herons, and egrets, alligators, furbearers.
